Main Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Sourcing Consulting Project Manager is a pivotal, fully accountable role within the Sourcing & Supply Chain Consulting Division of Source of Asia. Reporting directly to the Head of Sourcing & Supply Chain Consulting, this position combines business development, end-to-end project ownership, and ecosystem management into a single, results-driven mandate.

This is not a coordination role. The Sourcing Consulting Project Manager is personally responsible – commercially and operationally – for the quality of outcomes delivered to clients and for the financial performance generated for Source of Asia. The position carries a clearly defined annual Gross Margin target and is expected to drive revenue through proactive lead generation, precise project execution, and the cultivation of high-value expert networks across the region.

The Sourcing Consulting scope covers two core service lines:

Strategic Sourcing Missions

  • Assessment of manufacturing market performance across target geographies
  • Identification, qualification, validation, and formal recommendation of outsourced manufacturing partners

Industrial Expansion Missions

  • Market assessment for owned manufacturing set-up, covering land price, accessibility, labor market, international regulations & trade agreements
  • Industrial location engagement and industrial manufacturing set-up solutions
  • Engagement through to company incorporation and manufacturing kick-off

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    End-to-End Project Management

The Project Manager bears full accountability for the delivery of every mission under their scope – from mandate signature to final deliverable sign-off.

  • Own each project from inception to completion: scoping, planning, resource allocation, execution, quality control, and client presentation
  • Activate and coordinate internal resources (consultants, analysts, operations team)  and external partners (local agents, industry experts, auditors) to ensure mission  excellence
  • Define clear project timelines, milestones, and deliverable standards; proactively manage deviations and risks
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and actionability of all client-facing outputs, including market assessments, supplier reports, site evaluations, and strategic recommendations
  • Maintain transparent and professional communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle
  • Drive client satisfaction with the objective of generating repeat mandates and referrals

2.   Business Development & Sales Generation

The Project Manager is an active commercial stakeholder – not a passive executor. Business generation is a core duty of this role.

  • Proactively identify, target, and qualify prospects for Strategic Sourcing and Industrial Expansion missions
  • Engage early-stage leads with tailored, expert-driven propositions to convert opportunities into signed mandates
  • Represent SOA's Sourcing Consulting offering to senior stakeholders (C-suite, procurement directors, industrial managers) in a credible and compelling manner
  • Contribute to proposal writing, scope definition, and commercial negotiation with prospective clients
  • Maintain a structured, updated pipeline and ensure consistent commercial activity aligned with revenue targets
  • Collaborate with SOA's cross-functional teams (Marketing, Market Expansion, Corporate Services) to generate inbound and outbound leads

3.   Ecosystem Building & Expert Network Management

The quality of SOA's sourcing consulting outcomes depends on the depth and accuracy of its expert network. Building and managing this ecosystem is a strategic responsibility of the Project Manager.

  • Identify, engage, and maintain a network of relevant partners, manufacturing specialists, industry experts, industrial zone operators, and institutional contacts across Vietnam, ASEAN, China, and South Korea
  • Develop local, regional, and international ecosystems that enable accurate, timely, and expert-grade mission delivery
  • Evaluate partner and expert performance on an ongoing basis; continuously improve the quality and breadth of the network
  • Represent SOA at industry events, trade missions, and professional forums to strengthen brand presence and expand ecosystem reach

4.   Operational Excellence

The Project Manager is expected to operate within SOA's existing frameworks while actively contributing to their evolution.

  • Apply SOA's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), tools, and resources consistently and rigorously across all missions
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or improvement opportunities in existing processes, methodologies, or tools
  • Propose and contribute to the development of new SOPs, templates, or tools that enhance the division's delivery capability
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional rigor, and accountability within the Consulting team

5.   Performance Reporting

  • The Project Manager operates with full transparency and is accountable for structured performance communication.
  • Prepare and deliver a monthly activity report to N+1 (Head of Sourcing & Supply Chain
  • Consulting), covering pipeline status, project progress, financial performance, and key metrics
  • Track and report KPIs including: number of leads generated, proposals submitted, conversion rates, active mandates, Gross Margin achieved vs. target, client satisfaction indicators
  • Flag risks, deviations, or capacity issues proactively, with proposed mitigation actions

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY & PERFORMANCE TARGET

This role carries an explicit financial mandate. The Sourcing Consulting Project Manager is directly responsible for generating a minimum annual Gross Margin and will received KPI year on year.

This target will reflect the combined commercial and operational accountability of the position: the Project Manager must both develop the business (generate mandates) and deliver it profitably (manage project economics). Gross Margin performance is a primary

evaluation criterion for this role and will be reviewed regularly with N+1.

The Project Manager is expected to:

  • Understand the P&L logic of each mission and make resource decisions that protect margin
  • Price proposals competitively while safeguarding SOA's commercial interests
  • Monitor project budgets in real time and escalate any risk of margin erosion without delay
  • Build a portfolio of missions of sufficient volume and value to consistently meet and exceed the annual target

  • Experience managing third-party relationships (suppliers, partners, experts) at a strategic level
  • Track record of meeting financial targets or commercial KPIs
